Les nominés pour les National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) 2023 au Zimbabwe ont été annoncés avant la cérémonie de présentation plus tard cette année.
Au total, 1 266 candidatures ont été reçues dans différentes disciplines, dont la musique, le cinéma, la télévision, les médias, la littérature, le théâtre, la danse, la création parlée et les arts visuels. À la fin de la période de nomination, il y avait 897 entrées physiques et 394 entrées en ligne.
L’artiste Zimdancehall Freeman est en tête de liste avec trois nominations dans les catégories Meilleur musicien masculin, Meilleure chanson et Meilleur album.
Il est suivi de Leo Magozz, Bling 4 et Brian Jeck ont reçu deux nominations dans les catégories Outstanding Newcomer et Outstanding Song pour leur effort collaboratif « Fire Emoji ». Dorcas Moyo, Baba Harare et Mark Ngwazi suivent également de près avec deux nominations chacun.
Tanaka Fireyi (Chine), Sha Sha (Afrique du Sud), Tafara Nyatsanza (États-Unis) et Sibongile Mlambo (États-Unis) sont en compétition pour le prix de l’artiste exceptionnel de la diaspora.
« Je tiens à vous assurer que toutes les candidatures soumises via tous les points de collecte des NAMA ont été reçues et examinées. Les équipes de juges ont suivi un processus rigoureux de présélection des candidatures pour examen final par le panel de juges », a déclaré le président des arbitres des NAMA, Hope Masike.
