Les nominés pour les Beatz Awards de cette année au Nigeria ont été annoncés en prélude à la cérémonie principale du 28 novembre.
Rendu à sa sixième année, la plate-forme de récompenses vise à mettre en évidence et à honorer les musiciens et les professionnels de la musique, notamment les producteurs de musique, les auteurs-compositeurs, les ingénieurs de mixage et de mastering, les réalisateurs de vidéos et les diffuseurs, entre autres.
Cette année, des prix seront décernés dans quelque 25 catégories de vote, dont Producteur de l’année, DJ de l’année et Producteur Afropop de l’année. Le nouveau producteur de découverte de l’année Don Jazzy, nouvellement renommé, sera récompensé par 1 million de yens (environ 2 400 $).
Le PDG des Beatz Awards, Elijah John, a déclaré que les gagnants dans les catégories « Producteurs » ainsi que dans la catégorie mixage et mastering recevront chacun 100 000, tandis que le gagnant de la catégorie On-Air Personality (OAP) remportera un bien immobilier.
Les producteurs Rexxie, London, Andre Vibez et Ductor Sett sont en tête des nominés de cette année avec quatre nominations chacun. Ils sont suivis de Telz et Spax avec trois hochements de tête chacun. P2J, Pheelz et Type A sont en lice pour deux prix chacun.
